Intro to creative play

It was our first lesson with Annabeth and like most of the week, the class was mostly comprised of a brief on this specific module. Annabeth explained the criteria and what work she expected from us, then revealing that the topic of this brief was 'The City'. This would then become a group project in 7 weeks which we would have to present the class and staff. Its a slightly daunting scenario to think about but all the class and staff seem friendly enough that i wont freeze up. The concept of the city holds many avenues which i could explore, such as building a model city by hand or in maya. I'm quite excited about this brief as it being intro to creative play, i would hope we have the most freedom in the class to explore the more abstract and creative aspects of our brains. Im also looking toward to bouncing off ideas with other people in the class and see what kind of wacky ideas they have come up with. I think before the next class i should go in to town and do some sketches of the buildings as theres such a wide variety of architecture to draw, as well as that i believe that my perspective drawing abilities have taken a blow as i haven't done them in so long so it would be good to get some practice in.

Devil and demons - turnaround and emotions

disclaimer i lost my bag which had the rough 10 sketches as well as the poststick nots for the old lion and the fox, ive redone both but the orginals were much better  I've been really enjoying these tasks that Annabeth has been setting us, this being no different. After to speaking to a few people the character that people liked the most was actually my favourite too. I has missed the lecture that this was assigned to us but there was enough information on blackboard to go off that I was lost on what to do. While doing the turnarounds I came to the unfortunate realisation that I was struggling with getting my character to look consistently like its self from different angles. I'm guessing this was the point of the task and this is one of the reason I'm loving this course because I know how much I have to progress and these tasks are shining a light on them. It's a bit sad because personally I like it and I know that's what it takes to improve but on the ...

Where is the group??

Since the group got divided, the groups harmony has just been non existent. I know Poli and Maddy are waiting to the animation but I find it really frustrating that they're not being involved in helping create the scenes. If Indya had her way we would of scrapped that they wanted, which was Maddy's dog and Polis positive message. I've been trying to come up with a way that we could get the dog involved in the actual animation, and my initial idea was that the homeless dude spends his money on his friends; a pack of dogs.  This was inspired by the story of Dobri Drobrev Indya wasn't too pleased with idea and wanted something more hard hitting. So I then suggested the idea of 'hats for the homeless' in which the character spends his money on hats for other homeless people, this idea was inspired by the subway campaign of trading in gloves for a free sub.  Again Indya wasn't too pleased with the idea so we were in a bit of a block. James' Balls and other parts - Making of - A.E sessions

After effects sessions Ball bounces and pendulum  Annabeth and Jame thought it would be best to teach the class the basics of after effects and have us all have a basic under standing of the software. I was fairly familiar with after effects as there's is almost an endless supply of tutorials online but I think shows the depth that after effects can go into. We started off with simple functional animations such as the ball bounce and pendulum, i wish that we learned this last year as it was far easier to in after effects, and i think would of assisted me in stop mo and definitely in Maya.  As you can see the graphs are much clearer and i think easier to understand, this kind of knowledge is really useful as most people would think this is really complicated but to us animators this is much friendlier to us.  As well as the ball we did a pendulum, and furthered that and made a leg with moving parts using the bone tool. I ...
