viking boat - modelling is getting easier or im doing it wrong

I wasnt too sure to attack this object. as its shape is very different to that of a house or a tree. Usually when i dont know how to aproach a task I'll just look for a tutorial thats the clostest to what i wanted to create myself As I'm following the video, its a really similar process to the way ive been modelling so im kind of glad for once i can follow along pretty easily I like the fact it uses simple geomerty, it'll make it far easier to UV as well as when it comes to rendering it wont break maya.

Plattsfield park

Went for a walk through the park and tried to use some of that psychogeography stuff. I don't think it worked because I'm here so often  It was cold and even stopped to draw. Got a lot of weird looks which i didnt mind it was just cold.  I thought this one specically felt like a viking envirmoent. Maybe becias of the collousem like seats even tho that has nothing to do with vikings

Why have i done this to myself but i like it - aseop fables

Ive approached this storyboard almost too big as i always do. Too many scenes and too big of a picture in mind. I know i should stop and make it simpler but i dont know how.  Ive gone to colouring the scenes everyone i spoke to looked at me like i was crazy for colouring an animatic. I know what i want it to look like and im going to try to get it as close as possible. Ive been looking at perspective and envirmental design videos, not so much tutorials but other artists workflow. Best peice of advice i got is either make your own brushes or find brushes you like. I found a great painters set which has like 50 but ive only used like 4.  Ive also drawn plenty of other animals as well an attempt to do facial expressions on the lion. My plan is to cut and paste these drawing into the backgrounds for the scenes i had made however i feel like ive made it harder on my self by having not done these drawing digiatally

sneaking in maya

using the handout on blackboard, i altered the method slightly and i place my reference instead of an image, i thought this would be a new method instead if using a bar sheet. (don't kill me johnny but it was easier and more effective.) So after following the initial movement, i was quite happy with the result but i thought it would be best to exaggerate the sneak and learn fully about the passing motion. From the survival guide i learned that at point of contact the leg is super stretched out and during the passing movement the moment goes down instead of at its highest as it would be on a normal walk.

Low poly research

These are some types of art work i was looking to recreate, it would be easier to do for making of but i like the idea of low poly 2-d style  https://digital.com/blog/best-low-poly-generators/ https://99designs.co.uk/blog/tips-en-gb/the-secrets-to-successful-geometric-low-poly-art/ https://killscreen.com/articles/poly-generational/ https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/327bdg/rendered_some_360_photos_of_my_unity_projects/ Samuel Morse

weights with mr h

Even with strikes going on I've been trying my best to keep up to date on the tasks so that means for me looking at tutorials. In the last lecture i can remember johnny mentioned sometjhing about using locators but that obvuioiusly made no sense to us. Luckly i found a tutorial on youube because there was absolutly ntohing on lynda regarding weights. The tutorial was quite easy to follow but i can say that i didn't really grasp how to do the locator, the whole process would be really difficult without a tutorial, i think if i had to do it without the tutorial id try my grouping technique that worked with the pull.
