Performance and Character - Show-reel and conclusion

Short story - Performance & character - Alone in the woods

Alone in the woods I wish i had more time to work on the short story as telling stories is something i really want to stregthen and puruse in the future. I didn't want to treat it like an excerise mash up even though i knew some of the excerises would seep in naturally. My intention for the final excerise was to create a short orginal and engaging story. Probably asking too much of myself but i like to push the limits and test what im really capable of. I went through a writers block and struggled to come with something good, mostly leaning towards a comedic story but I didnt like the route it was taking. So i thought I'd explore a genre i really enjoy but would't really associate with animation; horror. After a quick brainstorm session i settled on this idea. Logline: An elderly widow lives alone in the woods but is she really alone? Character Bio Name: Beth  Age: 83 Height: 5'5 Weight: 135 lbs Background: Grew up on a farm and was not v

Dialogue - Performance and Character

I Thought I've been jumping back and forth from Maya and 2-D, but because my limp went so smoothly, i thought it would be best to test my Maya abilities one more time, then using the remainder of my time in 2-D which I think will take more time to develop. So for the the dialogue piece i chose the tom hanks one and still cant find the original movie, which does have its benefits as i have no bias and the interpretation of the scene is completely my own.  Character Bio Name: Tim Age: 46  Height: 6' Weight: 205 lb Background: Parents originate  from  Poland , they immigrated to America in the 50's where he was born in Boston   Massachusetts       Personality: An introverted man with strong catholic beliefs, always looks out for the best interests in others Hobby: DJ Occupation: High school teacher Pets: Cat named jimmy  Friends & Family: Parents are Orthodox Christians, most of his fri

Performance and Character - Walks - Joyful Child

Performance and Character - Walks - Limp

Shin Splints  My last attempt in 2-D was a bit of struggle but i think i had found my feet using Adobe Animate. I knew that my Maya skills were far less developed and I want to able to animate in 2-D and 3-D, so I couldn't put off Maya much longer. I had a talk with Johnny and James where i went wrong with my first animation and they both suggested that working in a stepped mode may fix my problems and help define clearer posing.  Character Bio Name: Zack Age: 24 Height: 5'9 Weight: 135 lb Background: Born in London , his mother died when he was 4, and then moved to Liverpool  to live with his father.  Personality: Highly energetic and unable to be still. Has 3 close friends who is very dependent.

Performance & Character - Walks - Rejected lover

Ignored I felt like my attempt in 2-D animation was a fair success so I thought it would be best to continue with what was working and do the rejected lover walk. Also Adams 2-D work shops were a great help to me, relearning the ball bounces and walks in Adobe Animate. I do want to redo the 101 and 102 exercises as i know they'll strengthen my overall animating skills. I found the using pose to pose really effective in 2-D, marking out each point of contact, placing the pass pose and finally adding the ups and downs. I tried to exaggerate as much as possible, the ups and downs and the movement of the arms and shoulders. I think in future that if the the pelvis had rotations as well it would make a much more life like animation. Character Bio Name : Joel Age: 22 Height: 5'11 Weight: 185 lb Background: Born and raised in Slovakia but moved to the UK looking for work Personality: Shy and unsure of himself but trying to become more outgoin

Performance & Charcter - Run, Climb, Jump, Pickup and Throw

Chased First week back and we've already been tasked with a challenging animation, which consists of a run into the character climbing a wall, then jumping down, and after the character lands they then pick up an item and throw it. Joe and Johnny spent the majority of the class talking about acting and performance which is obvious considering the title of the course. Johnny was advertising his favourite author Desmond Morris, which he recommend for my context essay last year which I obviously didn’t read but johnny previewed chapters on gesture and posing which really caught my interest. What I did read was the book by Ed Hooks, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading that. We don’t have to have the animation finished for this week but I think it would be best to get a head of the work instead of letting it pile up. The work we do have to have done for this week is creating the biography of the character, bar sheets and story board. Joe was very clear in his explanation of
